Connect your Trello account

Card Vault+ needs permission to read and write Trello cards on your behalf. Each team member connects their own account.

First-time authorization

When you open Card Vault+ for the first time, Trello may prompt you to authorize the Power-Up.

1. Open Card Vault+ from the board button or card back section.
2. If prompted, click Authorize with Trello.
3. Complete the Trello authorization window.
4. Return to the board — you should see Connected in settings.

If the in-app window does not open, use Authorize on trello.com. This opens Trello in a new browser tab, which avoids iframe restrictions.

What Card Vault+ can access

Authorization allows Card Vault+ to:

• Read card content for snapshots (title, description, checklists, labels, and more)
• Create or update cards when you confirm a restore
• Read your Trello member profile for account linking

Card Vault+ stores your access token encrypted on the server. It is not stored in browser localStorage as the source of truth for recovery data.

Reconnect later

If authorization expires or is revoked:

1. Open Card Vault+ Settings (board dashboard → Settings tab, or the Power-Up settings menu).
2. Click Reconnect Trello under Account.
3. Complete authorization again.

Troubleshooting

Problem	What to try
"Authorization failed" with appKey message	Reload the board with a hard refresh (Ctrl+Shift+R / Cmd+Shift+R) so Trello loads the latest Power-Up build.
Blank Trello window / "refused to connect"	Use Authorize on trello.com instead of the in-app button.
Popup blocked	Allow popups for trello.com and your Card Vault+ domain, then try again.
